Intel Schools of Distinction
Deadline: February 17
Every year, Intel honors U.S. schools that demonstrate 21st century teaching and learning environments that promote excellence in math and science with the Intel Schools of Distinction awards. To be considered, schools must develop an environment and curricula that meet or exceed benchmarks put forth by national mathematics and science content standards.

For youth-led service initiatives addressing critical community needs, such as poverty, education and environmental sustainability. Funded by Miley Cyrus and Youth Service America. All youth are eligible. 100 grants for $500 each will be awarded.

Fiskars Project Orange Thumb Community Garden Grants

Igniting Creative Energy National Student Challenge
Deadline: February 19, 2010
ICE is a program developed by Johnson Controls and the National Energy Foundation to challenge students to think about creative ideas that save energy and help conserve the environment. Students from kindergarten to 12th grade are encouraged to submit projects highlighting what people can do in their home, school or community to be more energy efficient and become better stewards of the environment.

Learn and Serve Higher Education
Deadline: March 9, 2010
Funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, this grant is designed to support institutions of higher education that use innovative service-learning programming to meet the needs of local communities. Eligible recipients include: institutions of higher education, consortia of these institutions or higher education partnerships with one or more nonprofit organizations or public agencies. Grants range from $85,000-$500,000.

Recovery Act Conservation Projects
Deadline: March 31, 2010
Designed to preserve and create jobs through conservation projects that enhance students’ classroom learning by providing them with opportunities to gain experience, learn about public lands, understand and appreciate natural and cultural resources, and stimulate their interest in natural resource careers. Funded by the U.S. Interior Department. Eligible recipients include: youth or conservation corps groups.

Toshiba America Grants for Enhancing Math and Science Education
Deadline: K–6th grade program grants are due October 1. 7th - 12th grade program grants are due February 1 and August 1.

NAS Mini-Grants

The Nebraska Academy of Sciences has a grant program offering mini-grants of $200 to $2000 for travel and equipment. These grants are available to K-12 teachers as well as college and university students and professors. Do Something Weekly Grants

Did you recently create a sustainable community action project, program or organization or have a great idea for helping your community? Do you need $500 to further the growth and success of your program or turn your idea into reality? If you answered, “YES!”, you are eligible to apply for a Do Something Grant. Over the course of 2009, 52 $500 Do Something Grants will be awarded. To be eligible, the applicant must be 25 years old or under and a U.S. or Canadian citizen, Do Something Grants cannot be used to fund: travel costs, individual sponsorships, shipping costs, individual school fees, or fundraisers. Digital Wish Grants

Digital Wish offers 43 different grants for digital camera hardware and software for your classroom. To apply, register your classroom at Digital Wish and enter a lesson plan. All teachers who submit a lesson plan on Digital Wish will be automatically entered to win a Mobile Digital Camera Lab plus as many as 43 technology grants. Captain Planet Foundation

Captain Planet Foundation awards to encourage children worldwide to solve environmental problems in their communities. Awards are between $250 and $2,500 for schools and nonprofit organizations that develop innovative environmental projects for youth that promote cooperation, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Annie's offers a limited number of small grants to community gardens, school gardens and other educational programs that connect children directly to gardening. Ben & Jerry's Foundation

The Ben & Jerry's Foundation offers competitive grants to not-for-profit, grassroots organizations throughout the United States which facilitate progressive social change by addressing the underlying conditions of societal and environmental problems. The Foundation will only consider proposals from grassroots, constituent-led organizations. Full grants range from $1,001 - $15,000 and throughout the year, the Ben & Jerry's Foundation may fund a small number of material grants for $1,000 or less. The application process to the Ben & Jerry's Foundation begins with an initial Letter of Interest, and if invited, is followed by a full proposal. Jenny Jones Community Grant Program
